Art and Animals

The history of art is full of mosaics, paintings, paintings, sculptures representing images of animals, indeed it can be said that the history of art begins precisely by immortalizing animals as documented by the paintings of primitive man in the Lascaux caves.

In any case, animals have always been a source of creative inspiration for man. This human instinct derives from the pleasure or need to depict the creatures around him either to capture their beauty or because they represented his source of sustenance. However, interacting directly or indirectly with animals has always promoted, in our species, interaction with others and improves our mood. Art and above all drawing, from this point of view, represents an easy and immediate instinctive channel to create a bond between us and animals as demonstrated by the dozens of drawings, sketches and caricatures of animals left by our visitors in the signature books positioned inside the museum hall.

For this reason, the Museum of Zoology wants to give space to artists, either by inviting them to come to the museum to draw or paint the specimens on display or to publish, at the moment on our website, but in the future, who knows, create a temporary exhibition with their works in which they want to express feelings, moods, beauty, amazement using animals.

We begin this new theme within the Muzoo website by hosting the artists:
